Psychologist

Yolanda is a psychologist who has worked in the special education, mainstream and private sector for more than 10 years. She has worked with children and adolescents with diverse profiles and varying needs, including intellectual and learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Selective Mutism and socio-emotional issues (e.g. school refusal, emotional regulation difficulties, poor confidence, social skills, etc.). In her individual work with the children, she strives to equip these children with skills so that they can manage themselves and navigate the challenges in their environment as they grow.

Yolanda strongly believes in the importance of the role of the family unit and environment in supporting the growth of the child. She has worked with parents and teachers to develop intervention plans to manage the child’s behaviour, emotional and learning needs. She also provides consultations and trainings for parents, teachers and volunteers on working with individuals with special needs.

Yolanda is a trained facilitator of the Signpost for Building Positive Behaviour Programme, a parenting programme by KK Women and Children Hospital’s Department of Child Development (KKH DCD) and the Parenting Research Centre (PRC), Australia.
