What is this workshop about?

 

Creativity has the incredible ability to heal social, psychological, and physical ills. This 3 day event explores the innate connection between healing and creativity. It features an art exhibition with emerging contemporary artists that address a

diversity of significant themes, including identity, transformation and play. Additionally, this event is inclusive of an array of creative lead workshops, inviting all to witness, engage, and partake in an immersive experience that celebrates the potential of creativity to mend, inspire, and uplift.

WHAT THE SESSION WILL INVOLVE:


Screening of Joshua Tree and panel discussion- 13 October:

Dr Deibby Mamahit: 5:45 - 8:45. Joshua Tree is a powerful and inspiring film that tells the story of a 14-year-old boy with severe autism who defies expectations and makes incredible progress.

During the pandemic, Dr Deibby and her husband, the parents of Joshua, had the idea to make a movie about their 14-year-old son with severe autism, and his remarkable progress over the course of six months. They recognized that parents and caregivers of children with severe autism often feel a sense of hopelessness as their loved ones reach adolescence or adulthood. Through this film, they hope to show that with the right environment, nutrition, exercises, and mindset of people around them, it is possible to bring about incredible changes in the lives of individuals with autism.

Charges: $20 per person (50% of the proceeds go to a non profit organisation, Autism Association. 


Lockdown- Film Screening - 13 October:

Following the panel discussion on the filmaking, we will show Lockdown. In this film, a man locks himself in a bomb shelter during a government-mandated lockdown. His solitude is interrupted by an unexpected visitor, his polar opposite. Cassandra Rudge: Co-founder of FoundFilms, dedicated to equal representation in media. Actress, voice-over artist, and filmmaker. Known for "Lockdown" and "Not Fair. Aizuddiin Nasser, a passionate actor with a decade of experience, aims to win an Academy Award and inspire future actors. Currently making waves in the psychological thriller Lockdown and driving FoundFilms to success. Duration of the film: 28 min and 15 seconds.


Joint art-making for families- 14th October:

Huma Durrani: 10-11:30am (90 mins) Capacity: 5 families (4pax per family) Charges: $150 per family Description: Participants will express their creative side through non-verbal communication with brushes and paints on a shared canvas. No art making skills or prior art-making experience is required, only the intention to experience a unique and fun form of bonding with the family. The art making process and reflection on the art product will be facilitated by art psychotherapist Huma Durrani. Clients will get to take their artwork home.


Art meditation- 14th October:

Gayatri Lele: 11:45- 1:15pm (90 mins) Capacity: 12 Pax Charges: $ 75 per pax Description: The intention for this workshop is to experience exhibited art in a nuanced manner. This art meditation workshop involves slowing down to receive each artwork exhibited in the space with conscious awareness, while noticing what arises from within. This process allows the artworks to be received fully by the participants, which can bring deep insights and healing. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with the artworks and create visual responses to them. The session will end with an intimate circle along with the artist.


The stories we earn the right to tell - Book Reading- 14th October:

Danielle West: 1:30- 3:30pm (120 mins) Capacity: max capacity of the space (20) Charges: $75 per pax Description: This session will help you understand the origins of your story so that you reclaim it and ultimately transcend it using prompts that will make you a riveting storyteller.


Embodied Stories: Rejuvenate through Drama and Play- 14th October:

Ambre Lee: 3:45-5:15 (90 mins) Capacity: 12 Pax Charges: $68 Description: Stories are everywhere around us and within us, they have a special power to transport us, to spark curiosity & imagination, to help us communicate what we sometimes can’t otherwise find words for. In this workshop, you’ll be invited through an experiential journey to discover a path of healing through fun and imaginative explorations. We will delve into the power of stories, weaving in games, creative expression and gentle connection to our body. Our healing journey can be paved with laughter, curiosity, and the freedom to play - come recharge and resource your self-care toolkit.


Unleashing Creativity: The Thriving World of Independent Film making:

FoundFilms:5:30pm - 7:00pm (90min) Capacity: 30 pax Charges: $75. (18 year olds and above) In Cassandra's writing workshop, you'll learn how to come up with unique ideas that stand out, craft an engaging storyline, and convey a meaningful message. You'll also get tips on writing a professional screenplay, understanding your target audience, and developing your own writing style. The workshop covers everything from initial concept to post-production challenges like marketing and distribution. In Aizuddiin's acting workshop, you'll focus on understanding your script and creating a multi-dimensional character. Techniques like inner monologues and improvisation will be covered to add depth and spontaneity to your performances. The session will also include exercises aimed at improving your vocal range, emotional connection, and physical presence. Both workshops aim to equip you with the skills to excel in storytelling, whether you're behind the pen or in front of the camera.

Rhythms of Nature- 15th October:

Ambre Lee: 9-10:30 am (90 mins) Capacity: 15 pax Charges: $45 Description: An invitation to immerse yourself in the restorative embrace of nature, revitalise the senses, tuning in to the rhythms around and within us. This workshop intertwines arts with our environment through a series of gentle prompts and a nature mandala making process.


Sound Bath- 15th October:

Aki Tsukui: 11- 12pm (60 mins) Capacity: 10 pax Charges: $35 (all age) Description: Discover the transformative power of Tibetan singing bowls with the immersive art of sound healing experience offered by an intuitive healer, Aki Tsukui. Bio: Aki is a certified sound healer based in Singapore offering both group and one on one sessions to corporate and private clients. Having worked in the corporate world for more than two decades, Aki understands the impact of work pressure, limiting performance frameworks, and work-life balance on overall health and well-being. Aki aims to help and guide participants into deep relaxation, work through energy blockages, and journey to connect themselves to align their body, mind and soul and be present during her gentle, expansive, and transformative sound healing sessions.

Meet your Guides

Huma is an art psychotherapist, author and researcher. She is also a caregiver of a young adult with autism.


Huma has been in private practice in Singapore for more than 15 years, first as an educational therapist and then as an art psychotherapist. She is globally recognized for developing a framework called the Sensory-based Relational Art Therapy Approach (S-BRATA) for art therapy with children with autism.

Gayatri is a Singapore based art psychotherapist and an artist. She has experience working with children, adolescents and young adults with a range of different profiles, varying from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, developmental disabilities, Down Syndrome and behavioural/emotional issues. She has also worked with parents through dyadic sessions with their children; to heal attachments, understand relational dynamics and learn about one another's emotional needs.


In her work, Gayatri strives to support each individual to awaken their inner healer and learn to make choices in life that are true to their values, needs, and goals; through the magic of art-making. She offers a holistic approach which is person-centered for all her clients.


Danielle West was born in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts and has lived in Toronto, London, Singapore and Los Angeles before moving to Bangkok. Danielle has been working in digital since 1999 across analytics, content, customer experience, omnichannel marketing and data strategy in the US, EMEA and APAC regions. She has worked with brands such as Disney, Sony, Activision, PayPal, Monster, Unilever, M&S, ANZ bank, Malaysia Airlines, Lazada, Informa, Bauer Media and Timberland to name a few. Having worked client side, agency side and tech vendor side, she offers a comprehensive perspective necessary in understanding the needs and objectives of all stakeholders for digital transformation strategies.

Ambre is a pioneering Dramatherapist in Singapore passionate about empowering individuals to discover their own language of expression. Ambre is French-Singaporean, she has lived in Singapore, China and the United Kingdom. Her work is cross-culturally sensitive, drawing on various frameworks, understandings and practices underpinned by trauma-informed approaches. Her focus is on creating a relationally safe and nurturing space for exploration. Her practice harnesses the creative and embodied processes to help clients retrieve their compassionate selves and ignite healing within. Ambre is currently also training in Trauma-informed Relational Somatics (TIRS) therapy. 


Ambre offers individual and group therapy to children, adolescents and adults. She has experience working with various client groups in mental healthcare, special education and different community groups.
