She has a particular interest in supporting individuals and families coping with grief, bereavement, anticipatory loss, and the emotional impact of serious or life-limiting illness.
In her practice, she also works with clients navigating day-to-day emotional challenges, relationship concerns, and questions of identity, meaning, and direction in life and career.
Prior to her work in counselling and social work, Yinn Shan began her career as a registered nurse in medical oncology, where she supported patients and families through complex medical journeys, experience in leading projects and programme. This experience gave her deep insight into the psychological, social, and emotional impact of illness, caregiving, and loss, which continues to inform her therapeutic practice today.
Yinn Shan holds a Master’s degree in Counselling and trained in AF- EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Grief Counselling and integrate evidence-based approaches in her work.
She is also a clinical supervisor and actively involved in training and education, and is frequently invited to speak to healthcare professionals and community audiences on topics such as grief, bereavement, psychosocial care, and compassionate communication in challenging situations.
Yinn Shan is multilingual and conducts counselling sessions in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, and Malay, Indonesian, allowing her to work comfortably with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
